Contents of former Coach House restaurant to be auctioned online

The contents of the building that once housed the upscale Stanley Demos' Coach House restaurant will be auctioned online through Sept. 22, officials at an Ohio auction company said.

After the auction, the building at 855 South Broadway, which was most recently the home of Casanova Fine Italian Restaurant, will be torn down.

The North Carolina fast-food hamburger chain Cookout Fresh Hamburgers has submitted a proposal to city planners to build a restaurant on the property.

More than "40 years of memories will be sold online" by Penny Worley Auctioneers & Appraisers, company officials said Tuesday in a press release.

Items available for auction include Louis XVI chairs; burgundy leather serpentine booths; chandeliers and Venetian mirrors, project manager William Hesch Jr. said via email.

"We have everything from commercial kitchen equipment to custom wine racks, fine furnishings, crystal chandeliers, cozy booths and gorgeous mirrors," auctioneer Penny Worley said in the news release. "Everything from the floor to the ceiling must sell ... even the rose bushes outside."

Founded in 1969 by renowned local chef Stanley Demos, the building has passed through several owners and incarnations, most recently Casanova's Fine Italian Restaurant.

"While it's sad to see such a venerable establishment gone forever, we're glad to offer the public the opportunity to take home a piece of the Coach House," Worley said.

Bidders must register before bidding at Worleyauctioneers.com or by calling William Hesch Jr. at (513) 444-6329. A catalog with photos of the items for sale is available at the company's website.

The online auction is open to the public. Bidding is now open and ends at 4 p.m. Sept 22.

There is a public preview of the contents at 855 South Broadway from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21.
