Assets at long-time Clifton bar & restaurant up for auction

CLIFTON HEIGHTS, OH (FOX19) - As Lenhardt's Restaurant and Christy's Biergarten in Clifton close their doors for good, more than 800 lots and 60 years of memories are headed to the auction block this weekend.
The assets will be sold online by Worley Auctioneers & Appraisers, and there will be public preview on-site at the Clifton Heights establishment on Saturday.
"This is a truly comprehensive auction," says Auctioneer Penny Worley. "Lenhardt's and Christy's has everything from chandeliers to custom wine caves; from menus to the cast-iron gates out front. Everything from the floor to the ceiling must sell."
The three-generation family restaurant, which closed its doors earlier this year, was the subject of a preservation battle between neighborhood activists and the retired owners. In August, City Council declined to grant the building landmark status, green-lighting demolition to make way for student housing and retail establishments.
The decision to shut the doors after more than 60 years wasn't an easy one for the family. "We care deeply about our customers and our community, but there's a point where you just have to move on," says Christy Windholtz Lammers, owner of the eponymous biergarten. "I'm looking forward to the auction as an opportunity to celebrate the Lenhardt's legacy and welcome lots of old friends for one last round."
The online auction is open to the public and ends Sunday, December 29. There is a public preview on-site at 151 W. McMillan Ave., Cincinnati OH 45219 on Saturday, December 28.
